La Gazzetta dello Sport devoted a great deal of attention to Lukaku in Saturday's edition, filling a whopping five pages with information about the Belgian striker and his future. It is possible that his future could once again lie in Milan, but not with Inter Milan.

Lukaku was acquired for a significant fee from Manchester United in 2019 and sold to Chelsea for an even higher amount two years later. However, he was unable to live up to expectations at Chelsea, and last season he was once again under contract with Inter Milan on loan.

AC Milan has developed a plan to keep Lukaku in Milan. The fourth-placed team from last season, with Inter finishing third, now knows that Lukaku would cost around forty million euros and that a loan deal is not an option. The forty million is a fraction compared to the 113 million that Chelsea paid two years ago to permanently acquire Lukaku from Inter.

Lukaku's entourage has already been in contact with AC Milan to gauge the Belgian striker's stance on a transfer to their archrivals. The striker may not be overly keen on the idea but is waiting for a signal from Inter that they are seriously interested in him. AC Milan has already made contact with London. Financially, the club is in a strong position following the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United. Lukaku is also considering interest from Saudi Arabia.
