Luuk de Jong will be particularly motivated to score a goal against Ajax on Sunday afternoon. The PSV striker is already in a good position when it comes to goals against the Amsterdam team but could crown himself as the ultimate Ajax executioner of the Eredivisie on Sunday.
From the past Eredivisie encounters between PSV and Ajax, it's clear that De Jong enjoys playing against the team from the capital. De Jong, along with Spitz Kohn (1960-1962) and Dirk Kuijt (2004-2006), is the only player who scored in five consecutive league matches against Ajax.
With a goal on Sunday in Eindhoven, he could become the first player ever to score in six consecutive Eredivisie matches against Ajax. In this century, no one has scored more Eredivisie goals against Ajax than Luuk de Jong. He has found the net eight times against the Amsterdam team, just like Blaise Nkufo did for FC Twente.
However, De Jong is not the PSV player with the most goals ever against Ajax. Ruud van Nistelrooij also scored seven, but Willy van der Kuijlen holds that record with nine goals. PSV players, in general, tend to perform well against the sons of the gods. It's the only club with a positive Eredivisie record against Ajax (W55-D27-L52).
