Alexis Sánchez takes a significant pay cut for remarkable return to Inter

Internazionale has finalized the return of Alexis Sánchez. The 34-year-old forward, who was a free agent after leaving Olympique Marseille, has signed a one-season contract with the club where he was already under contract between 2020 and 2022.

Last year, Sánchez terminated his contract with Inter in order to join Marseille. In Southern France, the former player of clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, and Udinese demonstrated that he hadn't lost his footballing touch, scoring a total of 18 goals in 44 matches.

Nevertheless, Marseille did not extend Alexis' contract. The 153-time Chilean international had the opportunity to take advantage of his free agent status in Saudi Arabia, but he opted for a return to Inter. According to Italian media, the diminutive 1.69-meter attacker had unfinished business in Milan.

Reportedly, Sánchez will earn significantly less than in his first spell at Inter. His current annual salary is 2.8 million euros, compared to seven million in his previous contract. At Manchester United, he was even a top earner with a salary of twenty million euros per year.

Sánchez takes the spot at Inter that was vacated by Joaquín Correa, who completed his move to Marseille on Friday evening. With this, coach Simone Inzaghi seems to have completed his forward line. It also includes club's top scorer Lautaro Martínez, and new signings Marko Arnautovic and Marcus Thuram.
