The important Champions League match between PSV and RC Lens on Tuesday will be officiated by the Romanian referee Radu Petrescu. The referee previously officiated the Eindhoven team earlier this season during the preliminary round against Sturm Graz.
PSV convincingly won that match against Sturm Graz with 4-1 at their home ground, the Philips Stadion. In total, Petrescu has officiated Dutch teams in Europe six times. The distribution is perfectly balanced; Dutch clubs won twice, lost twice, and drew twice.
During the match between PSV and Sturm Graz, Petrescu kept his cards in his pocket for the full ninety minutes, and it appears that he hasn't been very keen on giving out cards this season. In 29 matches this season, the Romanian referee handed out 24 yellow cards and only one red.
The match in France will kick off on Tuesday at 9:00 PM. RC Lens is currently surprisingly leading the group, while PSV is at the bottom with one point from two matches.
