Curaçao prevails in a spectacular match against Trinidad; players want to continue with Gorré

Curaçao has concluded the CONCACAF Nations League campaign with a victory over Trinidad & Tobago: 5-3. Despite the win, the Antilleans couldn't avoid relegation from League A. Curaçao's internationals strongly advocated for an extended stay of interim head coach Dean Gorré.

In the Ergilio Hato Stadium, Curaçao had a furious start on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Within just thirteen minutes, Rangelo Janga and Godfried Roemeratoe were on target, followed by a high-scoring game in the second half. Kenji Gorré, Juninho Bacuna, and once again Janga scored for the Antillean island.

Curaçao achieved its first victory in this Nations League campaign, but they lost the previous three group matches. After four matches, the islanders are in fifth place in a group with Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Martinique, Guatemala, and El Salvador, relegating to League B of the Nations League. In Groups A and B, where Suriname maintained its position, each country played four matches (home and away twice).

Head Coach:

It remains a question in Curaçao as to who will become the new head coach. Following the departure of Remko Bicentini, several candidates have been approached, including Dick Advocaat recently. However, if it's up to the squad, the current interim head coach, Gorré, should be appointed permanently.

After discussions, the players have informed the football association's board that they hope Gorré will be appointed to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup. In a statement to the association, they unanimously expressed this after the victory against Trinidad & Tobago. They also hope for an extended tenure for chairman Ramiro Griffith to enhance the professional structure within the association on the island.
