Following Pep Guardiola and Raphaël Varane, Kevin De Bruyne also voices his opinion on the new rule of stricter monitoring of time-wasting on the fields.

In the Community Shield match between Manchester City and Arsenal last Sunday, a total of eight minutes of injury time was added. It eventually became ten minutes, during which Leandro Trossard scored the equalizer for Arsenal.

"We have talked about it with the Arsenal players and even with the referees – they don't even want to do it, but it's the new rule and it is what it is," De Bruyne told The Guardian. "A game like today, just in the first half, with three minutes extra, you can already predict what will happen when you play against a lower team that keeps wasting time."

"Today we played for twelve to thirteen minutes. I've seen games go on for twenty to twenty-five minutes longer. I think this will change in one or two months, but these are the first games. I think when we play against Sevilla for the Super Cup on Wednesday [August 16], with fifteen to twenty extra minutes, and then play again on Saturday against Newcastle, it will be extra time twice. We will see how it goes, but it doesn't make sense," he added.
