The 2023/24 season has been underway for several weeks now, but David de Gea has still not found a new club. The Spanish goalkeeper is reportedly starting to contemplate retirement.
If there is no offer to become the first-choice goalkeeper at a major club, David de Gea, according to The Guardian, will call it quits. The 32-year-old goalkeeper has already turned down several offers.
Even the big money in Saudi Arabia couldn't tempt him. De Gea is meanwhile maintaining his fitness and form and still hopes for a good offer.
What De Gea particularly hopes to find is a coach who will give him unwavering trust. This was lacking for the goalkeeper at Manchester United, where he is said to have been disappointed in Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman brought in Andre Onana as a new goalkeeper. That meant De Gea lost his place between the posts.
De Gea was offered a new contract on reduced terms but turned it down and ultimately couldn't bid farewell to the Old Trafford crowd.
