From player to manager at Bournemouth

Edward John Frank Howe was born on November 29, 1977, and started playing football at a young age. The Englishman began his playing career in the youth academy of AFC Bournemouth and joined the senior team in 1994. After eight years at Bournemouth, Howe moved to Portsmouth, where he became the first signing of manager Harry Redknapp. Due to injuries, Howe retired as a player at the age of 30 in 2007 and immediately took on the role of managing the reserve team at Bournemouth.

Howe decided not to take a break in his football career and immediately transitioned into management. In 2008, he became the interim manager of the first team at Bournemouth after Jimmy Quinn was dismissed. Bournemouth was seventeen points behind the competition, but Howe managed to lift the team out of the relegation zone. The following season, Howe secured promotion to League One with Bournemouth.

In 2011, the manager departed for Burnley, where he led the team to an eighth and thirteenth-place finish in the league during his two seasons at the club. Due to "personal reasons," Howe returned to Bournemouth in 2012. He remained loyal to Bournemouth for eight years as a manager and was named the League One Manager of the Decade in 2015 after guiding Bournemouth to promotion to the Premier League. The team spent four years in the Premier League but suffered relegation back to League One in 2020. Howe departed from Bournemouth following the relegation.

Newcastle United comes knocking

In May 2021, Howe had the opportunity to join Celtic but declined the offer. A few months later, Newcastle United approached him, and he replaced the sacked Steve Bruce. Initially, Howe didn't win any of the first fourteen matches, but in the last eighteen games, he emerged victorious twelve times, leading the team to an impressive eleventh-place finish. In August 2022, Howe extended his contract with The Magpies.

Newcastle is having a remarkable season and is assured of securing the fourth position. Following a draw against Leicester City on Monday, the team will participate in the group stage of the Champions League next season.
