The arrival of Manchester United's first summer signing under Erik ten Hag appears to be a done deal. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club has reached an agreement with Chelsea for the arrival of Mason Mount (24). Additionally, Romano reports that the midfielder will undergo a medical in Manchester after the weekend.

United's interest in Mount had been known for some time, but the clubs seemed unable to reach an agreement. However, on Thursday, Romano reported that a deal had finally been reached. According to the Italian journalist, Manchester United will pay around €64 million, which could potentially rise to just under €70 million with bonuses.

With the agreement between the clubs in place, only the medical examination stands in the way of Mount's definitive transfer. Romano stated that he will undergo the examination "after the weekend." Assuming Mount passes the medical, a five-year contract awaits him, including an option for an additional season. This would keep Mount at the club until the summer of 2029.

In the past season, Mount, who had a loan spell at Vitesse in the 2017-18 season, had a relatively underwhelming campaign. He scored only three goals in 35 matches. Additionally, a pelvic injury kept him sidelined for an extended period from March onwards. Meanwhile, Chelsea has been making significant investments in new players, and thus, they also need to offload some players. The club has been actively involved in dealings with Saudi Arabia and has already sold midfielder Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City. Mount is now set to follow suit and leave the club.
