Jack Grealish believes he doesn't have to defend his behavior after winning the Champions League. The British winger expressed in an interview after England's international match against North Macedonia that the party boy image is misplaced.
Following Manchester City's victorious Champions League final, photos and videos of a jubilant Grealish circulated on social media for several days. The Briton thus symbolized the club's joy after winning their first-ever Champions League title in the club's history.
"Why shouldn't I enjoy it?" he asks himself. "My season lasted twelve months, and I just won three trophies. I won't start training again for another four weeks. By then, I'll be eager enough to give it my all."
However, Grealish does feel the need to defend his alcohol consumption. "I knew what I was doing. This is just who I am. This is how I usually party, although I must say I took it to another level because we won the treble."
During the past week, Grealish was part of the English squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. He came on as a substitute for the latter team for half an hour. According to Grealish, coach Gareth Southgate didn't say anything about the Briton's behavior, and Grealish simply did his job as always.
