Iniesta and Mata can call themselves champions of Japan due to their minor contribution

Vissel Kobe became the champion of Japan on Saturday morning (Dutch time). They won against Nagoya Grampus, while their competitor Yokohama F. Marinos dropped points. As a result, Vissel Kobe is unreachable with one game left in the season. For Vissel Kobe, this is the first national title in the club's history.

The Japanese club celebrated the title with a special photo on social media, and Andrés Iniesta and Juan Mata were also featured in it. The Spanish duo had a very small share in the title, participating in a total of five matches.

Iniesta is no longer connected to Vissel Kobe, having moved last summer to the United Arab Emirates. However, since he played four matches in the current season of Japan before leaving, he too had a share in the title.

Mata's contribution was even smaller. He arrived at Vissel Kobe shortly after Iniesta's departure, but his playtime amounted to only ten minutes towards the end of the season. Mata was part of the match squad for the championship game but did not play. For Vissel Kobe, this is the first national title in the club's history. With Iniesta, the club won its first ever trophy, the Emperor's Cup, in 2019.
