Lewis Dunk will continue as a player for Brighton & Hove Albion for the next three seasons. The 31-year-old captain has extended his contract for three years.
'Long live the captain!', says an euphoric Roberto De Zerbi, who has led Brighton to European football since his appointment. 'I am very happy that he has signed this new contract.
It's good news for Lewis and the club,' De Zerbi says on Wednesday via Brighton channels.
Dunk plays a crucial role in De Zerbi's strategy. Last season, he distributed an astronomically high number of passes: precisely 3208, which puts him at the top. That's more than 200 passes above Manchester City's player Rodri, who sent 2977.
Dunk has been with Brighton for twenty years. From the age of ten, he went through various youth teams and made his debut in the first team in the 2009/10 season. Dunk has one international match for the English team to his name. Dunk plays at Brighton along with Dutch players Joël Veltman, Bart Verbruggen, and Jan-Paul van Hecke.
