Lautaro Martinez has had enough of Romelu Lukaku. The Inter Milan striker expresses his disappointment in the behavior of the Belgian in La Gazzetta dello Sport. 'I didn't expect this from him.'
The Lukaku transfer saga has been going on for several weeks. Inter had agreed with Chelsea on a transfer fee of 35 million euros for the Belgian striker, but after that, there was silence from Lukaku's camp, much to the annoyance of the Champions League finalist.
Lukaku proved to be unreachable for the club management and teammates, leading Inter to withdraw from the negotiations. Lukaku called it 'lies' on Instagram, but Martinez denies this. The Argentine was one of Lukaku's friends at Inter, and Lukaku even attended Martinez's wedding in May.
"The truth is that I am disappointed in him," Martinez recounts. "I tried to call Lukaku several times, but he never returned my calls or got in touch. It was the same story with other teammates who sent him messages. I am disillusioned, but it's his choice."
At the moment, it is unclear where Lukaku's future lies. The striker has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, but he is holding off on that option for now. Juventus, which previously tried to hijack the deal with Inter, is waiting for the sale of Dusan Vlahovic before attempting to sign Lukaku from Chelsea.
