Newcastle United started the away game against Wolves strongly but had some luck with the opening goal. A sharp cross from Anthony Gordon was poorly dealt with by Wolves goalkeeper José Sá, and Callum Wilson was quick to volley the ball into the net for a 0-1 lead.

However, Wolves made a comeback ten minutes before half-time. Gabonese player Mario Lemina was able to head a curling corner into the net, partly due to hesitant play by goalkeeper Nick Pope and Kieran Trippier.

In the very closing moments of the first half, Newcastle took the lead for the second time. Forward Hwang Hee-Chan had dropped back to defend a corner at Wolves but, in an ultimate attempt to clear the ball, lightly touched Fabian Schär's foot. After a lengthy VAR consultation, Anthony Taylor decided to award a penalty, which Wilson gladly converted.

In the second half, Newcastle maintained control of the game, but Wolves continued to look for opportunities. The home team thought they deserved a penalty in the 57th minute when goal-scorer Wilson was hit on the hand by the ball. Taylor quickly dismissed the incident, and no penalty was given.

Twenty minutes before the end, Wolves managed to equalize at 2-2. Hee-Chan made up for his first-half mistake with a fine goal. The South Korean received the ball from defender Toti, skillfully evaded the sliding Dan Burn, and left Pope with no chance.

Since their impressive 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle has only secured one win. Despite this, the team, led by the injured Sven Botman, still holds a respectable sixth place in the Premier League, trailing league leaders Tottenham Hotspur by nine points.
