Given the opposition - Morecambe FC currently plays in League Two - that victory was less significant. Sunday evening's victory must have made a much bigger impression. Newcastle United finished fourth in the Premier League last season and is determined to at least replicate that performance.

On September 19, 1999, they defeated Sheffield Wednesday with an 8-0 score.
