On Sunday morning, it emerged that Al-Hilal was pursuing the acquisition of Neymar (31), whose role at PSG has come to an end. The forward was already not included in the match squad for the encounter with Lorient (0-0) on Saturday. PSG is reportedly looking to push out the most expensive footballer of all time, who was acquired from Barcelona for €222 million in 2017.

There are only a few clubs that can afford Neymar's financial demands, and Al-Hilal is undoubtedly one of them. The club, which previously signed players like Malcom, Rúben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Kalidou Koulibaly, has apparently reached an agreement with Neymar for a two-year contract, with a salary of €160 million. That translates to €80 million per year.

Whether Neymar will actually play two years in the Middle East remains a question. Spanish media are suggesting a scenario where the Brazilian is loaned out by Al-Hilal to Barcelona. This way, Neymar can continue to play at the highest level for at least one more season and remain in contention for the Copa América tournament in the summer of 2024.
