Calvin Bassey is set to leave Ajax permanently for Fulham. The medical examination of the central defender has already been scheduled, as confirmed by sources close to the transfer to VI (Voetbal International).
Fulham and Ajax reached a deal last Saturday worth 21 million euros plus a percentage of any future transfer fee. Afterward, it remained uncertain whether Bassey would actually move to London.
On one hand, he initially had reservations about joining a mid-table team, and on the other hand, there is currently significant turmoil in terms of the technical aspects at Fulham. The club showed interest in several central defenders, and manager Marco Silva was also considering a move to another club.
However, all issues between Bassey's camp and Fulham have now been resolved. The Nigerian international will undergo a medical examination shortly and will then sign a multi-year contract.
While waiting for the transfer to Fulham, Bassey did not travel with Ajax to Bayern on Monday, where the club is preparing for the new season.
