Mauricio Pochettino has spoken with Noni Madueke about a video that emerged of the former PSV player partying in a club. However, the Argentine manager of Chelsea emphasized that this was not the reason for Madueke's absence from the match selection against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Madueke was not even on the bench last Wednesday to the surprise of the English media during the League Cup duel, which already raised questions at the time. On Friday, the English youth international was again the topic of discussion due to a video that surfaced of him earlier this month. In it, the 21-year-old dribbler was seen partying in a disco while he was at that time recovering from an injury sustained with the England youth team.
Pochettino has spoken with Madueke about this. 'We must avoid this kind of thing,' the 51-year-old coach was clear. 'All players must know that you must prevent this as a Chelsea player. It was not a huge issue, but you must ensure that you do not get into these kinds of situations. This is a point that many young players can improve, not only him. They need to be more professional and have respect for the club where they play.'
According to Pochettino, the much-discussed video was not the reason that Madueke was absent from Chelsea's selection in the past three matches.
