Justin Bijlow has extended his contract with Feyenoord. The Rotterdam club confirmed on Saturday morning that the 25-year-old goalkeeper has signed for an additional year.
This means that Bijlow is now tied to the club until mid-2026. He is very pleased about it. 'I am proud and grateful that the club expresses its confidence in me,' Bijlow says on the club's website. 'The path that we have taken with Feyenoord in the last two years, I think, has been very good for my development. Besides, I have never made a secret of the fact that Feyenoord is my club, so being able to extend is a very nice thing for me.'
Bijlow hinted last month after his return about a contract extension with Feyenoord, and now it has become official. As a result, the future of the Rotterdam-born player seems to be at De Kuip for the time being. Last summer, the eight-time international was linked with a transfer to Manchester United, but they eventually signed André Onana as the successor to the departed David de Gea.
Bijlow joined the youth academy of Feyenoord at a young age and made his debut in the first team in August 2017. That season he was the second choice behind Brad Jones, but afterwards, Bijlow became the first-choice goalkeeper for the Rotterdam club. Over the years, various injuries have caused him to miss a number of matches. This season, Bijlow struggled with a wrist injury, but he has now returned to his position in goal.
