It has been clear for a while that Nkunku would make the multi-million transfer to Chelsea, but confirmation from the clubs had been lacking until now. Finally, there is white smoke from both London and Leipzig. Neither club has disclosed the transfer fee, but it is evident that the French international is the most expensive outgoing player in Leipzig's club history.

With Nkunku, Chelsea has secured their first major signing of the summer. Since the arrival of owner Todd Boehly, The Blues have been splashing money around, albeit with little success so far. According to English media, a major overhaul is already in the works, with several players set to be relocated to Saudi Arabia. The team has also been lacking in scoring ability.

Since his arrival at Leipzig, Nkunku has scored seventy goals in four seasons and is expected to fulfill that need at Chelsea. The attacking midfielder has proven Paris Saint-Germain wrong, as he was unable to get playing time due to the presence of highly paid stars. Now, Leipzig wants to go shopping in France again. They are looking to bring in Loïs Openda from RC Lens, although the deal is currently facing obstacles.
