The injury sustained by Xavi Simons in the Champions League match of RB Leipzig against Manchester City is not serious. It is expected that the Dutch international will be available again soon.
Simons fell on his right shoulder in the 74th minute of the away game against The Citizens. The twenty-year-old Dutchman could not continue and was substituted for Yussuf Poulsen.
Coach Marco Rose could not say how serious the injury was shortly after the match. Investigations had to be awaited.
The examinations have not revealed any serious damage, Leipzig announced on Thursday morning. The Bundesliga's fifth-placed team reports that Simons will likely be able to play again soon. Simons has already become an important link in his first months at Leipzig. The former PSV player was directly involved in fifteen goals. In the away game against City, he also provided the assist for the second goal by Loïs Openda.
Leipzig plays at home against Heidenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon, followed by a top match away against Borussia Dortmund the following weekend.
