Multiple Spanish media outlets claim that Andreu Camps, the Secretary-General of the Spanish Football Federation, has sent a letter to UEFA. In it, he is said to have threatened to pull Spanish clubs out of Europe if President Luis Rubiales is punished. Within the federation, there has been indignation over interference from the Spanish government. Members of that government are accused of actively working for the dismissal of the 46-year-old Rubiales. FIFA's disciplinary committee suspended Rubiales and imposed a contact ban on him.

The RFEF previously criticized Jennifer Hermoso, the Spanish player who was kissed by Rubiales. 'The evidence is clear, the president did not lie,' read a statement. The federation wrote that they, together with Rubiales, will do everything to prove that Hermoso spread lies and that legal action will be taken following Hermoso's statement and the Spanish players' union statement.

Hunger strike
Meanwhile, Rubiales' mother has gone on a hunger strike in a Spanish church due to the 'inhuman and bloodthirsty hunt' she claims is being conducted against her son. 'Why is everyone so cruel? My boy is not capable of harming anyone,' said the mother.

Rubiales recently received a suspension after he kissed Hermoso on the mouth during the ceremony celebrating Spain's victory in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The kiss is said to have been the final straw in a series of incidents involving Rubiales.
