Striker on loan from Atalanta seals the fate of his parent club

Atalanta Bergamo has not found connection with the Champions League spots in Serie A. La Dea lost 3-0 on Monday evening on the field of Torino, where, ironically, Duván Zapata, the striker on loan from Atalanta, was the key player with two goals.

At Torino, Perr Schuurs was still absent, while Atalanta started with three Dutchmen: Marten de Roon, Teun Koopmeiners, and Hans Hateboer were in the lineup.

Gian Piero Gasperini, the coach of the blue-blacks, had to make a substitution within twenty minutes at the Olympic Stadium in Turin due to an injury to his compatriot Berat Djimsiti, with Mitchel Bakker replacing the Albanian.

Not much later, the score was 1-0. A cross from the left found Zapata, who remarkably had a lot of space to finish between two defenders. Atalanta had little to offer in response, only Charles De Ketelaere came close, the Belgian back in the team after a while. Just after the break, the task became even greater.

Torino was awarded a penalty after VAR intervention. Antonio Sanabria converted the spot-kick with a low shot to the corner. Mario Pasalic had a chance to halve the deficit, but the Croat couldn't capitalize. In the final minute of injury time, Zapata inflicted pain on his actual employer again by scoring a third goal, making it 3-0. Thus, Torino moves up to the middle of the table, meeting Atalanta there.

On Sunday, Toro has an early game: at 12:30, they face an away match against Frosinone. Atalanta has a delightful fixture on Saturday at 18:00 in their own Gewiss Stadium: AC Milan comes to visit.
