Raphaël Varane is very pleased with the collaboration with manager Erik ten Hag. The French defender was complimentary about his coach, especially regarding the clarity that the Dutchman provides.
The Manchester United squad is currently staying in America to prepare for the start of the new season, and Varane spoke during a press event. 'He knows exactly what he wants,' the Frenchman described his coach. 'He has shown determination, and from day one, we knew exactly what we needed to do and where he wanted to go.'
Varane feels that a strong bond has quickly formed between Ten Hag and the players. 'The team clearly demonstrates that there is a good connection with the manager.' Even after a difficult decision, that positive feeling remains intact. Ten Hag chose Bruno Fernandes as the new captain leading into the start of the new season.
He's not afraid to make such decisions," Varane knows. "That's also what we expect from the manager. He wants a team with character, and he wants to lead that team. So, he has to demonstrate it himself, and he does."
Meanwhile, Man Utd has played two friendly matches, resulting in two victories (2-0 against Leeds United and 1-0 against Olympique Lyonnais). On Saturday night, they face a tough challenge in the friendly match against Arsenal.
