Liverpool remains undefeated even after four league matches. Without captain Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo in the starting lineup, the home team convincingly won 3-0 against Aston Villa at Anfield. This allowed manager Jürgen Klopp to celebrate his 300th Premier League match in style.
Van Dijk was serving a suspension, Gravenberch only arrived from Bayern Munich on Friday, and Gakpo had to settle for a substitute appearance of just under half an hour.
Hungarian Dominik Szoboszlai put the 'Reds' ahead in the 3rd minute. After a cleared corner kick, the midfielder fired a powerful shot into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Striker Darwin Núñez then hit the post from close range in the 22nd minute, after which Villa midfielder Matthew Cash inadvertently scored an own goal. In the second half, Núñez provided the assist for Mohamed Salah's 3-0 goal.
Liverpool began the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea but then won against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
Crystal Palace defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 at their home ground. Jairo Riedewald remained on the bench for the home team.
