Van Gaal still in the picture for Germany due to doubts surrounding Nagelsmann

Bild is closely following the situation regarding the German national team coaching position. The newspaper had already presented a long list of candidates for the successor to Hansi Flick just before his resignation. Currently, it appears that there are four remaining candidates. While discussions have already taken place with Nagelsmann, Van Gaal, Oliver Glasner, and Stefan Kuntz are still under consideration.

Nagelsmann seems to be the first choice of the DFB, but the former coach of 1899 Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich has not yet accepted the offer. At 36 years old, he questions whether it's too early to take on a role as a national team coach, and Nagelsmann's salary demands could also pose a potential hurdle for the DFB, given his significant earnings in his previous position with Bayern.

Germany promptly won against France under interim national coach Rudi Völler after Flick's departure. Although Völler is immensely popular, he has declined a permanent appointment as the national team coach. Several former footballers have voiced their support for Van Gaal to become the new coach of the German national team. Germany's next international matches are scheduled for October, against the United States and Mexico.
