Pacheta gets a new opportunity to showcase himself as a coach in La Liga. The 55-year-old Spaniard has been appointed as the successor to Quique Setién, who was dismissed early in the season, at Villarreal.
Real Valladolid was the last club where Pacheta was active. The former player of clubs like Espanyol was sacked in April of this year due to disappointing results. A 6-0 defeat to Real Madrid was the final straw for the club led by president Ronaldo.
Valladolid did experience a slight improvement after the coach's dismissal but couldn't avoid relegation from La Liga. Now, the former coach of teams like Real Oviedo, Thai club Ratchaburi FC, and Elche is making a return to the top level."
"The Yellow Submarine earned just three points from their first four league matches, currently placing them in fifteenth position in La Liga. Pacheta will make his debut as Villarreal's head coach on Sunday, September 17, at home against nineteenth-placed Almería. This will be followed by their first Europa League match of the season against Panathinaikos."
"Real Madrid legend Raúl González Blanco was also mentioned as a candidate for the coaching position, but the former striker will have to wait a bit longer for his first opportunity as a coach at the highest level.
