Xavi leaves PSV and opts for a return to PSG

Xavi Simons has made his choice. The twenty-year-old sensation of last season is leaving PSV after just one year and returning to Paris Saint-Germain, who exercised the buy-back option and can secure his services for a fee of six million euros. PSV announced the news Sunday morning via Twitter.

PSV surprised friends and foes earlier by acquiring Simons from PSG and securing his services until mid-2027. What was later revealed was that the French top club retained the option to bring Simons back until the summer of 2024.

The condition, however, was that the attacking midfielder also wanted the move. Last month, it was announced that PSG would only have to pay six million euros if Simons gave his approval.

That scenario is now unfolding. After careful consideration, Simons has decided to leave PSV after just one year and take on the challenge in Paris. Talks between PSV and Simons regarding a new contract ultimately led to no agreement. He has already left PSV's training camp to facilitate his return to PSG. Last Saturday, he played sixty minutes in a friendly match against Blau Weiss Linz and Xavi scored a goal.
